Youth for Technology Foundation (YTF) is an international non-profit organization that seeks to bridge the digital canyon among disadvantaged communities in developing countries, starting with the continent of Africa. The vision of Youth for Technology Foundation is to foster wealth creation, reduce unemployment and create self-sustaining communities by providing marginalized people in rural communities with the technology tools, training and resources to enable them to realize their greatest potential.
In many developing countries today, the equal adoption of technology excludes many individuals and communities from reaping the fruits of the economy. With the advent of Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs), access to knowledge has become a potent force for transforming social, economic and political life globally.
The information highway is leaving the African youth poorer in technology knowledge, skills and global reach. Thousands of young people leave school with the hope of developing a career and sustainable life that often turns into an illusion. A systematic and targeted infusion of appropriate technology in disadvantaged communities and consequent empowerment of youth will serve as a coup de grace to youth poverty, crime, violence and unemployment.
The YTF slogan, "Delivering to the Community - Bridging the Digital Canyon" is indicative of what YTF will achieve. Youth for Technology Foundation has an all inclusive model which focuses on bringing access to technology and resources to the people at the very bottom of the economic pyramid in developing countries – the girl-child and rural women.

$4,000As you can see by watching our videos, appropriate technology, even in small amounts, is helping young people living in developing countries unlock their potential.
Please support our cause by contributing to this fundraiser and telling your friends about YTF.
Our web-a-thon goal is $4000 and we can reach this goal with your support. The following is a break-down of ways in which your donation will be used:
1). $500 - Refurbish 100 laptop computers in Louisville, KY.
2). $500 – The cost of shipping 50 laptops to community technology and learning centers (CTLCs) in disadvantaged areas in the U.S.
3). $2000 – The cost of shipping 50 laptops to CTLCs that YTF partners with in Africa (each laptop weighs about 13 lbs. It costs about $180 via USPS to mail 4 laptops, shipping and customs fees, to Africa).
4). $1000 – The cost of hiring a program coordinator locally to help implement YTF's distance learning program, "LearNations" that connects our kids in community technology centers that we partner with in Africa to kids in schools across the U.S. using appropriate technology.
Since 2008, YTF has worked with St. Anthony’s Elementary school in Long Beach, California. Beginning in 2010, YTF will partner with Frederick Law Olmstead Academy South, an all-girls public middle school in Louisville.
The program will connect students there with their peers at the Owerri Digital Village in Nigeria, using appropriate technology through a project called PRISM – Promoting Readiness in Science and Math.
